Chelsea McDonald, MA, LPC
As someone who has been through the process of overcoming anxiety, and worry in my own life, I am able to empathize immediately with my clients. Many of my clients come to me feeling a lack of control, low self-esteem, unshakeable sadness, intense worry, isolation, fear and a sense of feeling trapped.
Knowing what it's like to suffer and work through these issues myself, I want to provide my clients with a sense of peace and freedom; the ability to enjoy life and to be present with loved ones as we work through the root issues.
My specialty is trauma and PTSD, specifically adult victims of childhood abuse, but extends to difficult circumstances that may have left you heartbroken and unprepared. I also work with anxiety, depression, postpartum, young professionals, grief and stress.
I employ a number of therapies in my practice: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused CBT and Trust Based Relational Interventions.
I earned by Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at Tyler and a B.A. in Psychology from Stephen F. Austin University with a minor in Rehabilitation.
I am currently accepting new clients on Monday and Tuesday. Call to schedule your appointment today!

I am a member of Applied Association of Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB), and The International Society of Neurofeedback and Research (ISNR).
I have been mentored by Dr. Ron Swatzyna as well as Dr. Richard Souther who is a pioneer in the Neurofeedback field. Additionally, I consult weekly with Jay Gunkelman, CEO of Brain Science International (BSI) which is a world leader in EEG, qEEG and functional qEEG analysis.
I have three beautiful children that amazes me daily, and I love working with children (and adults) with challenges such as ADD, ADHD, and spectrum disorders as well as anxiety, depression and sleep disorders.

We all have wounds to heal and a story to tell. Wouldn’t it be nice to look at that story and change the way it makes us feel?
My primary focus is towards adolescents, adults and the family dynamics. I treat depression, anxiety, self-esteem, stress and anger management, behavioral issues and work on improving academics with adolescents. I have had extensive internships with several psychiatric hospitals, immigrant shelters and school counseling.
My approach is not to treat symptoms, but to find the root issues and work to develop an integrated plan to address those issues quickly. I use integrative therapeutic-orientations such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Client Centered.

When I was an adolescent, my family, like many, was faced with adversities which later led me to seek personal counseling. My own journey allowed me to process my thoughts and feelings which resulted in growth and self-awareness. My positive experience contributed to my passion for the field of psychology and inspired me to want to provide hope and healing for others.
I am an eclectic counselor who utilizes a primarily person-centered approach. I provide a safe, trustworthy, and growth promoting environment where you can experience empathic listening, nonjudgmental acceptance, and self-actualized healing. I also integrate cognitive behavioral therapy into my counseling approach and utilize therapeutic skills that are based on scientific evidence.
I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from Houston Baptist University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern in the state of Texas, supervised by Mandy Batson, LPC-S.
